Ron
& Yvonne were picked up from home , we then hit the road over the
Spit Bridge to Tania Park before dropping off at Gunners Barrack where
they had lunch.
Gunners’ Barracks was constructed in 1873 and is of national
significance as one of the finest examples in Sydney of a
nineteenth-century fortified building with its stone quarried locally.
The barracks were
excavated into the cliff side and linked by tunnels to the adjacent
fortifications forming part of part of a network of fortifications that
were established to protect Sydney Harbour from attack.
